Installing plank parquet (click)

Warranty requirements apply if the buyer has complied with the quality requirements of VIIMISTLUS RYL 2013.

The warranty is 2 years according to the laws of the Republic of Estonia.

The warranty does not cover wear and tear caused by misuse and improper maintenance or failure to perform maintenance.

To get the perfect result, you must follow the installation tips we have provided.

Please read the installation instructions carefully before installation.

Permissible subfloor evenness for installing wooden parquet: 2-3mm variation is allowed over 2m. If the subfloor evenness does not meet the standard, the subfloor must be leveled with a leveling compound or sanded flat. Only unpack the parquet immediately before installation. The installation temperature must be at least 18º C and the humidity 40-60%.

The subfloor must be dry, smooth and clean.

To protect the valuable wooden floor from moisture rising from below, we recommend covering the subfloor with an aging-resistant 0.2 mm polyethylene film in the case of floating installation. The film tiles must overlap by 20 cm and the film must be turned up at the edges of the room.

In new buildings, windows should be kept open for a few weeks before installation. During the transition period and in winter, heat and ventilate the room regularly.

All work involving water or moisture (tiling, painting, wallpapering and plastering) must be completed before installing the floor.

Seal the patio door area to prevent moisture from entering from the outside.

Do not store packaged parquet on a freshly installed subfloor!

Use support blocks.

Store packaging, underlayment and adhesive at the installation site.

The room temperature must be at least 18º C. Before installation, inspect the panels for defects. Complaints regarding defects in the installed floor will not be accepted.

Installation

Before installing the floor, carefully read the instructions and tips on preparation and installation. First, measure the room. If the last row of panels is narrower than 5 cm, the first row must be cut so that the first and last rows are more or less the same width.

FLOATING INSTALLATION

Installation tools

Knocking block (min. 60 cm long), puller, hammer (800 g), waterproof glue (not needed for click parquet) (D3, B3), glue dispenser, wedges, tape measure, pencil, saw and square.

Place a sound-absorbing mat (e.g. PE foam, corrugated cardboard, etc.) on the subfloor. This will make the floor more resilient and quieter to walk on.

1. Start installation from the right corner of the room. The first row of panels is placed with the groove facing the wall. To ensure an even expansion gap between the panel and the wall, spacers of approximately 10-15 mm thick should be used.

2. Place the first row of panels in place and also place spacers at both ends of the row.

3. Start the second row of panels with the cut end of the first row. The pitch of the butt joints should be at least 30-40 cm.

4. Use a tapping block to connect the panels. (No glue is needed when installing glueless parquet) Your parquet is drop-down parquet - the short ends of the parquet are installed by pressing or tapping down from above with a tapping hammer. If necessary, contact us and ask for more information.

5. The last row of panels is cut to size, taking into account the expansion gap between the board and the wall, and glued to the penultimate one. The puller helps to pull the panels tightly together. Don't forget the spacers for the edge of the last row. 6. After the glue has dried, the spacers can be removed and the expansion gap covered with a suitable strip.

ADHESION TO THE SUBFLOOR

Depending on the condition of the subfloor, pre-treatment (with primer, coating) may be necessary according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Use only adhesives specifically designed for installing pre-treated hardwood floors and follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions. Pörandakeskus recommends using Renove Elastic 400 parquet adhesive and Renove PU 200 adhesion primer when installing floors with underfloor heating.

1. Start installation from the right corner of the room. The first row of panels is placed with the groove facing the wall. For longer distances, use a string to check.

2. Leave about 10-15 mm of expansion space between the floor and the wall.

3. Use a notched trowel to spread the adhesive and apply the adhesive only under the boards to be installed immediately following the installation, following the manufacturer's instructions. Do not exceed the open time of the adhesive.

4. Place the boards on the adhesive pad. Press the boards against the subfloor to ensure optimal distribution of the adhesive. Be careful not to get any adhesive on the floor surface.

5. Once the first three rows are in place, leave the glue to dry overnight and continue installation the next day.

6. After installation, the floor should not be walked on for 48 hours to allow the adhesive to dry and harden sufficiently. It is recommended to place weights at the edges of the floor.

NB: As the installation of parquet floors varies depending on the specific conditions, no legal liability under the warranty arises from the instructions and recommendations given here. It is recommended to carry out on-site tests or contact the relevant service providers before installation, if necessary.

After installation, the homeowner must:

avoid sudden fluctuations in the room climate. Keep the room temperature constantly at 20-22º and the relative humidity at 40-60%. We recommend using a humidifier during the heating season. Avoid unnecessary sources of moisture during the summer months. The temperature of a heated hardwood floor surface must not exceed 27º C on the surface of the wood.
