Floorboards or plank parquet: what is the difference
Both look like real wooden planks, and both really are wood. The difference is in how they are made.
Plank parquet: multi-layer and ready to use
Plank parquet consists of several layers. Spruce or pine is often used for the base layer, and the top layer is a hardwood: oak, ash or an exotic species. The hardwood layer is usually 2.5-6 mm thick, depending on the manufacturer and product.
- Factory finished, usually with lacquer or oil, and ready to use
- 1-, 2- and 3-strip
- Installed floating on an underlay or glued down
- Bevelled edges hide gaps that may appear as the wood moves
- The surface can be brushed or distressed
Floorboards: solid wood
Põrandakeskus floorboards are ash and oak, made in Latvia. All boards are pre-sanded and bevelled on 4 edges. Factory-oiled boards can also be ordered. The board thickness is usually 15 mm.
- Oak and ash floorboards can also be installed directly on concrete with underfloor heating. Their heat transfer is the same as the best-selling plank parquets.
- The wood moisture content must be 8 ±1%. Delivery takes 2-4 working days, and Põrandakeskus recommends installing the material within one week.
