Glimtrex oil wax 2.5L (matte, silk matt, glossy and various colors)

Glimtrex Hardwaxoil is produced on the basis of linseed oil, and sunflower oil, jojoba oil, beeswax, carnauba wax and candelilla wax are also used in the production.

PRODUCT FEATURES:

• Can be applied (applied to the floor) every 3-6 hours, depending on humidity and temperature.
• The product reaches approximately 95% of its final strength (hardening) in 24 hours.
• High durability and wear resistance.
• Non-slip surface: suitable for public spaces (gyms, halls, school buildings, etc.) when a hardener is added. The product mixed with the hardener has a slip resistance certificate of R10.
• Suitable for use on wood, cork, OSB board, laminated wood, kitchen worktops, stairs, etc.
• The product is preservative-free.
• There is no unpleasant and strong odor.
• Stain resistant – oil, wine, coffee, juice and lighter household chemicals do not damage the surface. Tested according to DIN 6861-1B requirements.
• The product is elastic, does not crack or peel from the finished surface.
• Suitable for use on children's toys, tested to DIN EN 71-3.
• Maintenance and cleaning are easy using Glimtrex Floor Care.
• It is easy to provide additional protection to the finished surface using Glimtrex Wax Polish.

• We recommend using it in homes of people with allergies, as it is very easy to remove dust and other dirt from the finished surface.

Application to the surface to be finished

Sand the floor with sandpaper or sanding mesh No. 80 to 120. Remove sanding dust and other dirt. Make sure that the underfloor heating is turned off so that the oil wax can dry without additional heat, which ensures better durability of the surface. Before using the oil wax, mix the product thoroughly and make sure that the product temperature is 18-22 degrees during application.

For oiling, use a short-haired roller, a soft-haired brush, or for smaller surfaces, a duster, rag, etc.

The product consumption is 20-60g/m2, depending on the method of application, the type of wood and the roughness of the sanding. When applying to the floor with a roller, make sure not to apply excessive pressure on the roller and that you use a short-haired roller. When applying the first layer, move the roller across the grain of the wood and when applying the second layer, move it along the grain. A roller refreshed with oil wax should not be placed on an already finished surface. Oil wax can also be applied to wood with a sponge, brush or cloth.

After applying the first coat, leave the oil wax to dry. If possible, ensure good ventilation and access to warm air (warm air movement speeds up the drying process).

After the first coat dries, it is not necessary to polish it (if you still want to do so, make sure you do not use abrasive polishes).

Use the same tools when applying the second layer.

The consumption for the second layer is approximately 30gr/m2, depending on the application method. Once the oil-waxed floor has dried for at least 24 hours, the finished floor can be used. The floor will reach its final hardness in approximately 7 days.

Cork, OSB board and stronger types of wood (e.g. oak) can also be finished in the same way.

If you want to achieve an even more durable result, we recommend polishing and adding a new layer of oil wax after the second layer has dried.

Application of oil wax with hardener (especially durable and slip-resistant floor)

To provide slip resistance and additional durability to a surface finished with oil wax, add 5% Glimtrex hardener to the oil wax. The hardener and oil wax must be mixed together thoroughly. Since the ready-mix has a pot life of only 45 minutes, do not mix more hardener and oil wax than you can apply to the surface to be finished in 45 minutes.

Applying the pre-mixed product is the same as applying a regular oil wax finish.

Adding a hardener to the oil wax gives the finished surface additional durability and wear resistance, and also makes the finished surface slip-resistant.

Finishing with colored oil wax

Make sure you have enough oil wax to finish the entire surface.

Colored oil wax is applied to the surface with a thin cloth, sponge or brush. Rub the oil wax into the pores of the wood in a thin layer, do not leave an excessive or thick layer on the surface to be finished. Tinted oil wax can also be applied to the wood with a floor sander using a white polishing pad. Let the oil wax dry for 6-8 hours.

Do not polish or rub dried oil wax! As a second layer, use colored oil wax by applying it to the floor using the method described above.

Daily cleaning

Remove loose dust and other dirt with a vacuum cleaner.

For wet cleaning use Glimtrex Floor Care. For not very dirty floors, dilute 25-50ml per 5L of water. Floor Care with water and clean the floor using a damp mop.

To clean heavily soiled floors and other surfaces, increase the detergent content in the water.

Wax layer renewal

Small scratches and marks can be easily removed using Glimtrex Wax Polish. Clean the floor or other finished surface from loose dirt, using a damp cloth if necessary. Apply a thin layer of maintenance wax to the surface to be maintained. After 4-8 hours the floor is ready for use.

Over waxing

To give the floor even greater durability and extend the next maintenance period, the surface finished with oil wax can be refinished. First clean the floor of dirt and then apply the oil wax using the method described above.

Cleaning work tools

Brushes and rollers can be cleaned of oil wax with white spirit.

Safety

All clothes, rags and sponges that have come into contact with oil wax should be placed in a container filled with water. Or moved away from flammable materials. Clothes, mops etc. that have come into contact with oil wax may spontaneously combust!
