Flooring for the bathroom, kitchen and hallway
The bathroom, kitchen and hallway are the toughest places in a home for a floor: water, sand, mud and lots of foot traffic. Here are the options that can take it.
Vinyl flooring (LVT and SPC)
Vinyl flooring is 100% moisture resistant and suits the kitchen, hallway, living room and also the bathroom, but not directly under running water, as water can get under the planks. LVT withstands wear, scratches, UV light and chemicals.
Vinyl flooring with ISOCORE technology is 100% waterproof and made without plasticisers, phthalates or formaldehyde. Aspecta ISOCORE floors have antimicrobial protection.
SPC vinyl flooring has a rigid stone composite core and is not prone to expanding or shrinking, so it keeps its shape even where temperature and humidity change constantly.
Waterproof laminate
Quick-Step waterproof laminate floors are also suitable for damp rooms such as bathrooms and kitchens.
Wet room PVC
Wet room PVC flooring is made for bathrooms and kitchens. If you need extra slip resistance, look at anti-slip safety floors (R12).
Hallway: an entrance mat as well as the floor
In the hallway, an entrance mat extends the life of the floor. A well-planned entrance area stops dirt and moisture right at the door. The Põrandakeskus range includes entrance mats, recessed grates and grate frames.

Shower area: among wet room PVC floors, Ultra H2O has the highest barefoot slip resistance class, and the manufacturer names it as suitable for showers. In a shower area the installation must form a watertight whole: welded seams, wall joints and the drain must be done according to the manufacturer's wet room instructions. Choosing the right floor covering alone is not enough.
You can see vinyl flooring and laminate at our Tallinn (Järve 2) and Tartu (Tehnika 3) showrooms; for PVC, ask for advice at a showroom or by phone. Installation can be ordered from Põrandakeskus.
